Inside the Narrow Weaving Plant in Lenoir, NC

Our narrow weaving plant in Lenoir, North Carolina, represents a pivotal evolution from converter/supplier to manufacturer. Opened in 2021, this 30,000-square-foot facility was designed to enhance production control, streamline lead times, and support the growing demand for high-performance narrow fabrics. Located in the heart of a region with deep textile roots, the plant reflects MMI’s commitment to American manufacturing and its continued investment in innovation, quality, and service.

Purpose-Built for Narrow Fabric Production

At its core, the Lenoir facility is focused on weaving mil-spec webbing and elastic fabrics for military, tactical, and outdoor applications.

These narrow fabrics (webbing, binding tape) are critical building blocks in outdoor and tactical gear where durability, strength, and reliability are essential.

The plant specifically supports these product lines:

Modern Equipment Driving Precision and Scale

The Lenoir plant is equipped with machinery designed for both efficiency and flexibility in production. At the center of operations are 16 Jakob Müller needle looms, capable of weaving materials up to 5 inches wide.

Additional equipment includes:

  • Tricot (yoyo) warper systems

  • Sectional warper and creel systems

  • Heat set range

  • Dyeing and finishing range

Integrated Manufacturing and Printing Under One Roof

A unique advantage of the Lenoir facility is its integration with Mikan Printing, our respected textile printing partner. The plant dedicates 20,000 square feet to weaving and 10,000 square feet to the printing operation.

This co-located setup allows for:

  • Faster production cycles

  • Improved quality control

  • Seamless coordination between weaving and printing processes

The result is an efficient, vertically integrated system that supports popular products like our CTEdge® printed narrow webbing and binding tape, as well as consistent material quality.

Built for Innovation and Custom Development

Flexibility is a defining feature of the narrow weaving plant. The facility includes customized loom setups that enable short runs and rapid product development, allowing us to move quickly from concept to production for our customers.

Key innovation capabilities include:

  • Direct creeling for efficient development

  • Custom heat-setting processes for enhanced performance

  • Blocking and finishing techniques for improved material characteristics

These capabilities make the plant ideal for developing specialized solutions tailored to evolving end-use requirements.

A Commitment to Quality, Speed, and Control

The establishment of our Narrow Weaving Plant reflects our broader mission: delivering high-quality products with faster lead times and greater responsiveness. By internalizing key manufacturing processes, the company gains:

  • Greater control over product specifications

  • Reduced dependency on external suppliers

  • Increased agility in meeting customer demands

This investment ultimately strengthens MMI’s position as an end-to-end solutions provider for technical and mil-spec textiles.

Driving the Future of U.S. Textile Manufacturing

Our Narrow Weaving Plant is more than just a production facility. It’s a strategic hub for innovation, collaboration, and growth. By combining advanced machinery, integrated operations, and a focus on high-performance materials, we are helping redefine what domestic textile manufacturing can achieve.

As demand continues to grow for reliable, Berry Compliant, and performance-driven materials, facilities like ours in Lenoir will play a critical role in shaping the future of the industry.
