If so, as Controller for MMI Textiles, you’ll partner closely with the CEO/Founder and the Senior Leadership Team to shape financial and people strategy, optimize processes, and support sustainable growth. This is an on-site position based at our Brooklyn, Ohio headquarters, where teamwork and operational excellence are core to our success.

THE ROLE

The Controller at MMI Textiles is a results-driven financial and operational leader who ensures excellence across both the Finance and Human Resources functions. This role oversees all accounting, reporting, payroll, and internal control functions while also managing core HR operations—including benefits administration, hiring coordination, employee relations, and compliance. Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership, the Controller helps shape financial health, foster employee engagement, and support strategic growth.

This role is fully on-site at MMI’s Brooklyn, Ohio headquarters.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Leadership

  • Oversee and execute all general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close processes.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reporting.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and operational procedures.
  • Partner with CEO and senior leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Analyze financial results, variances, and trends, providing actionable insights to drive business performance.
  • Manage external relationships, including auditors, tax advisors, and other financial service providers.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering growth, accountability, and a culture of excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and reporting requirements.

 

Human Resources Leadership

  • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies; coordinate open enrollment and benefits communication.
  • Support hiring efforts by partnering with department leaders to identify staffing needs, assist in job postings, candidate coordination, and onboarding.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers on HR policies, employee relations, and performance matters.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
  • Collaborate with leadership to strengthen company culture, employee engagement, and retention initiatives.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements across HR operations for efficiency and compliance.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience; experience with HR or payroll administration preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; CPA preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting processes.
  • Familiarity with HR best practices, employment law, and benefits administration.
  • Proficiency with accounting and HR/payroll systems (ERP experience preferred, e.g., NetSuite, ADP, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive process improvements, and support strategic business decisions.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site at MMI’s Brooklyn, Ohio headquarters.
