We're back from another great IFAI Expo!

by MMI Textiles 19. October 2017 15:31

This year for the IFAI Expo we headed down to the vibrant, lively city of New Orleans for a great week with our industry family. We kicked off our biggest show of the year with a bang as always!

We brought with us some new marketing materials, updated banner stands, new fabric samples, and some finished medical products showcasing how our wide and narrow fabrics can be used in medical applications.

Some of the products we showcased in our booth this year:

Printed Narrow Fabrics:

Of course, we brought samples of our Multicam ® printed narrow fabrics - showing all the colors that are now available: Multicam ® Black, Multcam ® Tropic, Multicam ® Arid, Multicam ® Alpine, and Multicam ® Classic. This line highlights our commitment to the military industry as it features the MMI-created patent-patent pending CTEdge™.

We can also print patterns, logos, and more on narrow fabrics of practically any kind - we had some awesome samples in our booth to prove it.

Performance Knits:

We brought samples and flyers of our performance knits that we currently offer in 17 different styles (ranging in phases and weights). This line focuses on 3 things: Protection, Comfort, and Durability. One fabric has also been approved by the United States Air Force for their FR T-Shirts!

PVC Patches, Labels, Cuff Tabs, and Zipper Pulls:

We also had samples of some of the products we can now offer through our partnership with Flexsystems. This line of custom products includes Berry Compliant VELCRO® backed military patches, VELCRO® cuff tabs, 2D PVC patches and labels, morale patches, zipper pulls, flame resistant parts, and more! The options available are numerous and can be customized to meet many sizes, shapes, logos, and colors.

Fabric (of course)

What? Fabric? Us? Well, we highlighted a few of our favorite this year (including our upcoming 500D solution-dyed Wolf Grey), but we have so many options! We’ll save you from reading the entire list but whether it is 200D polyester, 10 oz. Single Fill Duck, 1050D Ballistic Nylon, or a custom ripstop to foam lamination – we have you covered. Our line up of woven fabrics coupled with our ability to also provide webbing, hook and loop, labels, zipper, knits, elastic, cord, and tape makes us a cut above the rest.

As we get ready to welcome in the holiday season and closeout 2017, IFAI Expo is always one of our favorite times. And if we missed you at our booth this year, don’t worry - we would love to chat and find out how we can help you! Just fill out our contact form or call us at 440-899-8050

MMI Certified as Women Business Enterprise (WBENC) and Women Owned Small Business (WOSB)

by MMI Textiles 7. August 2017 13:12

MMI Textiles, Inc. Certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council

WESTLAKE, OH – MMI Textiles, Inc, a leading supplier in the textile industry, is proud to announce national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise and Women Owned Small Business by the Ohio River Valley Women's Business Council Certification Committee, a regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and Women Owned Small Business (WOSB).

These certifications mean a lot to me and my organization for many reasons, but chief among them is that we do a lot of business with large, private organizations and with the government who have initiatives to do business with woman-owned enterprises. Women have come a long way in our society at pushing equality with the male gender, and these certifications help our communities see that women can be an important part of the fabric of that community with job creation and active involvement”, said founder and president of MMI Textiles Inc., Amy Bircher.

WBENC’s national standard of certification implemented by the Ohio River Valley Women's Business Council Certification Committee is a meticulous process including an in-depth review of the business and site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a woman or women.

By including women-owned businesses among their suppliers, corporations and government agencies demonstrate their commitment to fostering diversity and the continued development of their supplier diversity programs.

Building a Backpack You Can Be Proud Of...

by Annie 26. April 2017 09:53

While we will focus on a backpack in this post, this guide can help you with building any kind of end product that you are committed to sourcing the best components for. After all, the different components that go into an end product are what eventually give it the integrity you hope for.

When it comes to bags and backs, MMI can be a valuable asset. Chances are, we can provide anything you need for a backpack, a duffel bag, or anything similar. We solve a lot of communication and organizational problems because we allow our customers to get everything in one place. Here’s a glimpse at what we can do:

The Right Base Fabric

From heavyweight nylons to water resistant lightweight nylon, we can find out what you're planning on using the bag for and start with options that we think are best. We have a lot of experience finding customers the right fabric. Whether it’s a coated polyester or a strong, nylon ripstop – we can help if you know exactly what you want or if you are just needing some options.

Hardware

We sell domestic and import options for any style of hardware you could need. Metal or plastic, military colors or standard colors, you name it, and we can get you d-ring, buckles, snap-hooks, and more. We're an authorized distrubitor of ITW Nexus if you need Berry Compliant hardware and we have a handful of import options, too.

Webbing and Straps

As one of our biggest product lines, we have webbing in nearly every kind, color and width combination. Nylon webbing, polyester webbing, polypropylene webbing, and cotton webbing are a few of our base product lines.

Binding Tape and Elastic

For pockets or anything stretchy on the bag, you’ll need some binding tape or elastic. Another important thing to note when it comes to all of our narrow fabrics, we can print on them. Whether it's a camo pattern like MultiCam®, a striped pattern, or a logo, our printing is high-quality.

Mesh

When it comes to bags, we can laminate mesh to foam for certain applications. With numerous different mesh counts and spacer mesh in various thicknesses – we’ll likely have the kind you need. Much of our mesh is domestic, if that is a characteristic you are looking for.

Labels, Cord, Zippers

While these might literally be small things when it comes to a bag, they aren’t small to us. Making an impression with the little things, like labels will give your product and your brand the strength it needs.

We’re really happy to service the bags and packs industry so well. Don’t hesitate to reach out on any of your needs or questions when it comes to these things.

SHOT Show 2017 is in the books...

by Annie 30. January 2017 11:22

SHOT Show 2017 is always an awesome way to kick off the new year.

Not to mention, anyone who gets the chance capitalizes on the opportunity to head West from Cleveland in January. Our team returned last week and brought back so much to say on new product lines and high-tech designs that they got to see at SHOT Show. In addition to the cool things they saw, they got to meet and see some new and old industry friends. On Wednesday night, the team attended the famed Crye Precision party in costume. And as you can see from the picture below, our team takes costumes very seriously.

This year, we participated in the new SHOT Supplier Showcase and were able to display our products more in-depth. Our MultiCam®  printed narrow fabrics featuring the patent-pending CTEdge™ are displayed on the Crye Precision vest which was a big hit. We sell these products in webbing, elastic, loop, zipper, and binding tape. You can read more details on the product and the CTEdge™ in this post which was featured on Soldier Systems Daily. In addition, we were able to show off our new line of fire retardant and anti-microbial performance knits. This line consists of 17 different styles ranging from lightweight meshes to heavyweight fleeces. Just in case the buzz about some of our new products overshadow our vast exsisting lines, don't forget about the things like our stock CORDURA® nylons and our Berry Compliant hardware.

If we didn’t get the chance to see you at the showcase and you want more information or samples on any of our products, shoot us an email at info@mmitextiles.com or give us a quick call at 440-899-8050.  Keep in mind we do our best to stay active and committed to serving the military and tactical industry in as many ways that we can and we are ever striving to improve.

The Future Workforce -- a great read!

by Annie 2. November 2016 15:27

The future of the fabric industry is a serious subject -- and luckily, it seems like people are beginning to talk about it. In the October issue of Specialty Fabrics Review in an article titled, The Future of the Workforce, the author brings to lights how crucial it is to support the existence of these jobs and to encourage and nurture young individuals to pursue these kinds of trades. Without individuals who have welding and sewing skills, the industry will struggle to survive.

The article touches on how textile manufacturer's need sewers and sewers need opportunities that lead to fulfilling careers. The two must be merged successfully to keep the industry growing. The partnership between IFAI (Industrial Fabrics Association International) and the Makers Coalition are trying to do just that. Our owner, Amy Bircher, is committed to helping this process where she can. As chair of the Industrial Fabrics Foundation (IFF) which committed $120,000 to the Makers Division program over the next two years Amy says, "The decision to fund this program was very easy. The foundation stands for education, innovation, and development within our industry. This comes at a time when the industry is growing, manufacturing jobs are coming back and the need for professional development couldn't be greater. The vocations of sewing and welding - the kinds of things that are used in a manufacturing shop for finished products - hardly exist anymore."

We love seeing programs like this one being supported throughout the industry and enjoy taking the time to mention how much bringing jobs back to the United States means to us as a company.
