Look for the MMI Team at SHOT Show 2017

by Annie 5. January 2017 12:06

Happy New Year – here at MMI we are gearing up for 2017, big time. We have lots of good things planned and we can’t wait to tell you all about them. One the first things on our 2017 agenda: SHOT Show 2017. The annual show is really one of our teams favorite and not only because they get to escape the 10 degree temperatures for Las Vegas.

We love getting to hang out with all our colleagues, partners, and friends who will be at SHOT show. Our commitment to the military and tactical industry is something we focus on and take very serious – so we jump at the chance to travel to SHOT and talk with others who are equally as passionate about these things as we are.

This year we are focusing on a few things that we think bring major value to our existing customer base, new customers, and the industry in general. The first thing we will be exhibiting is our line of Multicam® printed narrow fabrics with CTEdge™ and patent-pending technology. We talked a lot about it in 2016 and we are carrying our excitement right into this new year. You can see details across our website, specifically here and here.

We are debuting  our brand new line of performance knit apparel fabrics. This diverse line of Berry compliant materials includes various layers of moisture wicking fabrics to keep you dry as well as different weights of flame resistant fabrics for FR protection. These base layers are designed to maximize comfort and performance for various temperatures or activities. With many options, you’ll be able to find one that works for you.  More information will be forthcoming on this product line in the coming weeks…

If you are going to be at SHOT show, our team would love to connect. We will be exhibiting at the Supplier Showcase on Monday, January 16th at Booth #S1526. We’ll be at the remainder of the show, too. We’d love to schedule a meeting or get in touch. If you won’t be at this years show and you’d like more info or sample on the Multicam® printed narrow fabrics or line of performance knits, reach out to 440-899-8050 or info@mmitextiles.com.

Wishing you a safe, happy, healthy, 2017.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

by Annie 16. December 2016 08:34

It’s that time of year again and yet again, we can't believe another year has come and gone. Though we had a great one, we are constantly reminded on how important it is to sometimes slow down and appreciate the days we get. Every year, the office does a collective Toy Drive for the Salvation Army. This year was no different and our toy drive was a big success. We filled up Geoff and Brian’s trucks and they went downtown to the Cleveland Salvation Army headquarters to drop everything off. Upwards of 60% percent of our toys consisted of basketballs, soccer balls, and footballs as if Cleveland wasn’t already full of enough crazy sports fans. The toys are always fun to shop for and a really good reminder that giving is better than receiving.

We’re grateful for all of our customers, partners, and colleagues within the textile and manufacturing industry and outside of it. MMI would not be where it is today without all of you and we can’t express how much gratitude we have. Don’t hesitate for one second to reach out whenever you need anything or just to check-in.

We hope your holidays are restful and full of time with your loved ones and wish you a 2017 that brings health, safety, and happiness. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year from the MMI team!

P.S. Want to see our Christmas card? Check it out here.

Onwards and Upwards!

by Annie 30. November 2016 14:26

The MMI Textiles Team has been growing in strength and numbers. We’re excited to announce a handful of new team members and a promotion.Geoff Senko has been promoted to Regional Sales Manager. This promotion is a result of Geoff’s six years as a cornerstone of the MMI sales team. He has been a huge part of our success over the years and we are grateful to have him. He will continue servicing all his customers as he takes on the new role.

Additionally, we have hired 3 new team members over the past 3 months.

Andrew Joyce joined the management team in October. He joins as our new Global Business Manager. Andrew brings 25 years of sales and business experience from outside the industry to bring a fresh perspective and will help MMI continue its steady growth. He is a native Australian who married a Clevelander with a true love of his adopted city.  We are excited to add him to our team!

Christine Campbell joined the team at the beginning of November as our Office Assistant. She is quickly making friends around the office as she offers to help with just about anything. Not to mention she loves Cleveland sports, so she fit in VERY quickly.

Last, but certainly not least, Lisa Lewis has been working with the team as our newest Customer Service Representative. She is quickly learning the ropes and helping in all the areas she can. We hope to officially bring her on to the team full-time at the end of the month!

As always, we are grateful to have a growing team. These changes are exciting and we couldn’t be happier. Onwards and upwards!

CTEdge™: The Solution You’ve Been Waiting For

by Annie 17. November 2016 08:55

MMI Textiles, Inc. is a solutions-based industrial fabric company. If you are having a problem related to any of your fabrics, fasteners, or components – then we can help. Whether we can provide you with an actual product or we can connect you with someone who has that element you are looking for, we’ll do the leg work for you.  And that’s where our new product – THE CTEdge™ comes in. This solution-based technology is featured in both our printed MultiCam® binding tape and webbing so that we can alleviate the issue that some members of our armed forces and tactical customers are facing, typically referred to as the “white edge”.

The CTEdge™ is created using patent-pending technology that gives the edge of the fabric a more concealed edge because it is woven with different color threads. It allows the edge to blend in much more with MultiCam® behind it or another military-colored fabric.

CTEdge™ Webbing

We offer our exclusive CTEdge™ in both A-A-55301 and Mil-W-17337. It is also available in OCP by contract basis only. This product is often used in bags, vests, MOLLE systems, and other tactical gear. The following widths are available in Mil-W-17337: ¾” 1”, 1.5”, 2” 3”. To inquire on A-A-55301, please call the MMI office.

CTEdge™ Binding Tape

Same thing here – our exclusive binding tape comes with patent-pending CTEdge™ that meets Mil-T-5038. This product is stocked and available in ¾” and 1”.

The picture above, a Crye Percision™ product, is created with MMI’s materials. The tape and webbing used on it are the CTEdge™ product and a close-up shot of the concealed edge can be seen below. Additionally, the vest is made with our loop and elastic. Last but not least, zipper is now a part of our new printed narrow line, too and we have stock in #5 and #9.

For more information on the CTEdge™ solution – check out our dedicated webpage. If you want samples or information on current stock, give us a call at the number below or shoot us an email.

AUSA 2016 Recap

by Annie 6. October 2016 09:52

The MMI team traveled to Washington, DC for the annual AUSA Expo and annual meeting. One of our favorite shows of the year, the 2016 show was no different. During the expo, we got to be a part of IFAI’s booth space and had a great time. Being members of the Industrial Fabrics Association International allows us many benefits, including getting a chance to exhibit at AUSA which we are grateful for.

As you may know, we take our relationship with the military and tactical industry very seriously. So when we get the chance to come together with a lot of members of that industry, we get pretty excited. We got to show off and tell people about our new line of MultiCam® and OCP printed narrow fabrics. There are similar products to the one MMI now offers but the differences and benefit to MMI’s are significant.

MMI’s webbing and binding tape offer the patent-pending CTEdge™. This advanced edge design gets rid of the glaring white edge that many would notice when the webbing and tape were used in vests, bags, and more. The CTEdge™ conceals the white edge, making it blend much more than any previous versions of this webbing and tape.

In addition to the advanced webbing and tape, the line also offers zipper, elastic, and woven loop. All of these products meet military specs and are Berry compliant. While this new line is what we are most recently talking about the most – we’re able to offering lots of different products to the manufacturers of military products. Things like mil-spec webbing, berry compliant hardware, hook and loop, and elastic are all options that we can provide solutions to for military applications and end uses.

After a successful AUSA 2016 and an upcoming IFAI Expo 2016 (come see us at Booth #A1035) – the MMI team is busy and excited for it all. If you missed us in Washington DC, don’t fret – we’ll get the chance to talk our new printed narrow line with you or anything else on your mind. Call our team at 440-899-8050 or shoot us an email at info@mmitextiles.com

What It Means to be Made in the USA

by Annie 9. August 2016 09:50

We’ve been watching the Olympics non-stop over here at MMI. Gymnastics, swimming, archery, table tennis, you name it and we’re practically “experts”. It’s such a great time every four years and we’re grateful for how it brings us together within the office, not even to mention how it brings us together with the rest of the globe. We love cheering on our home red, white, and blue and it definitely has us thinking about what it means to be “Made in the USA”.

MMI Textiles offers a lot of different products that are “Made in the USA”. Depending on what it is and the kinds of specifications that it needs to have, we often refer to it as domestic or if it’s a military fabric or component, we may refer to it as Berry compliant – which you can read more about here.

Manufacturing goods that are Made in the USA means more than what it might look like on paper. For us – it means we are staying true to our history and staying true to the industry that helped MMI become what it is today. Our history reaches back all the way to 1932 when National Dye Works was started in downtown Chicago, and continued through 1980 when it was first purchased by the Bircher family, and then in 2007 when it was purchased by MMI Textiles, Inc. A long history – traveling through Chicago, IL, Lynchburg, SC, reaching through the Midwest, and now headquartered in Cleveland, OH with ties throughout the entire country.

We manufacturer, convert, and distribute goods based on customer needs and many times that need is wanting goods Made in the USA for the same reasons that we like offering them. We are proud of the fact that we can help support jobs and supporting businesses that are growing within the United States, just like our customers and partners support our growing business.

It's for those reasons that we love to talk about how many things we can offer that are made right here in the United States. In case you were immediately curious, here's a brief list of some of our fabrics and components that can be made within the USA:

It is also important to note that if you are thinking about bringing any kind of production back to the USA, starting new production in the USA, or trying to figure out if it’s even possible – we’d love to help. We’re waving our flags high as we cheer on our team in Rio, hoping to carry that momentum in many more corners of our country.

*It's important to note that Berry Compliancy is different from something being "Made in the USA" - here's something to read on the Berry Amendment and this is what it takes for something to be considered Made in the USA

Mil-spec webbing, mil-spec hardware, mil-spec galore!

by Annie 27. July 2016 11:13

Everyone knows how in-tune we try to be with the military and tactical industry. So we are switching it up from talking about our line of MultiCam® printed narrow fabrics and we are going to discuss our many options for mil-spec webbing and hardware.

Let’s start with mil-spec webbing. This stuff is such a common raw material in the military and tactical industry. MMI’s has the ability to provide you with numerous kinds, colors, styles, and classes of mil-spec webbing. To see just a handful of our available webbing specs, check out our webbing and tape webpage -- no pun intended! Mil-spec binding tape and mil-spec elastic are easy for us to get to you, too. Whether you are making backpacks, duffel bags, vests, tactical slings, or anything related – we have the mil-spec webbing and likely quite a bit more of your Berry Compliant goods that you might need to make these things. And as mentioned before, we can now now offer printed mil-spec webbing, tape, loop, zipper, and elastic. We’re doing our best to bring our A-game for all of our current and future tactical customers.

Next, we can take on mil-spec hardware. We sell ITW Nexus in different finishes and colors and work with customers every single day on not only getting the right mil-spec hardware our customers need but also talking to them and helping them along the way when they aren’t sure what kind of mil-spec hardware they might need. That’s our mission in everything we sell and one thing we are very proud of. Our attention to detail and our well-rounded offering of so many different components allows us to work together with you find out your best option on each area of an end product. We have experts who do it practically every day!

Mil-spec webbing and mil-spec hardware are just the beginning of our military-focused products. You can poke around our website to find more. Or, your best bet might be calling in to talk details with one of our experts. You can find them at 440.899.8050! That way we can find out what you are making, how much you need, and we can get some samples out to you as soon as possible.

MMI Fabric in Action, literally!

by Annie 11. July 2016 12:12

We always get excited to see our fabric in action and in this case, it’s no exception. In this particular instance, we are literally seeing it in action – along with a few other guys in action, too! In an upcoming UFC 203 fight that takes place right here in Cleveland, where reigning champ Steve Miocic takes on Overeem, MMI’s fabric can be seen in the flooring of the ring and throughout the event. To be specific, it’s our #4 Cotton Duck – look for it in sky blue or gold! When we are selling our fabric, we don’t always think about how many different and unique places it will end up so this is a good reminder of how versatile fabric is, especially this cotton duck can be.

If you want more information on the event taking place, you can read about it or buy tickets here. Or, if you want more info on the cotton duck that is being used, we can have cotton experts that help you find the right kinds and colors. Shoot us an email as sales@mmitextiles.com or give us a call at 440.899.8050.

5 Things You Didn't Know Were Made with Webbing

by Annie 27. April 2016 11:05

Webbing comes in lots of different varieties and you wouldn’t even believe all the things that are made from or with webbing included. If you currently use webbing or are just interested in learning a little more about this fabric, check out this list of five things you might not have noticed are made from different kinds of webbing.

Seat belts

One of the most common uses of webbing is in seat belts in most cars. Nylon webbing is the most popular kind of webbing that’s used. While widths can vary depending on the maker of the car, two-inch webbing is mostly commonly used. Next time you’re in the car, notice the webbing in the seat belt that you have.

Dog Leases and Dog Collars

These things are a must if you have a dog or thinking about getting one! Thanks to leashes and collars webbing is made in all sorts of different sizes and colors. And just like seat belts, leashes and collars are made with some kind of hardware, too. Luckily for you, if you’re needing to make these pet-related products, MMI carries both the webbing and the hardware.

 Lawn Chairs

Those retro-looking lawn chairs that have been around for years? Yep, they are made with webbing, too! The webbing is woven into the pattern that is seen on the bottom and the backs of lawn chairs. It’s sometimes dyed many different colors to attain that bright and retro look.

Molle Systems

This fabric system is an acronym standing for Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment. Webbing is used as a holder for many different things typically in military wear and equipment. It’s used in a lot of tactical assault panels, rucksacks, and modular pouches, vests, and backpacks. In this case, we carry a lot of mil-spec webbing options and Berry Compliant products.

Yoga Straps

As this kind of exercise becomes more popular, yoga straps and yoga mat carrying straps are becoming more popular too. In many cases, cotton webbing is used in these straps to achieve the softer feel that these products try to attain. The carrying cases and the straps used in the stretching are both growing more and more popular.
