MMI Attends SHOT Show 2016

by Debbie 26. January 2016 15:10

Another year of SHOT Show is under our belt. The MMI team traveled to Las Vegas for the annual show focusing on all things shooting, hunting, and outdoors. We enjoy coming together with people from our industry, learning new things, and getting to tell the rest of the world about the exciting things going on in the MMI offices. Not to mention, getting out of Cleveland in January is not something we usually pass up.  This year at SHOT, we focused on showing off a few different things including:

Wolf Gray
Unequal® Military
PenCott™ Camo
Our vast line of military fabrics

All of these things are widely popular throughout the industry and we were even able to spot a few items at SHOT Show 2016 that we had a hand in producing. These boots were made with PenCott™ Camouflage that we provided. It's pretty exciting for us to see end products that we had a part of like these boots. Additionally, we can provide hardware, labels, and rope and cord

If we didn’t get the chance to see you at SHOT, we would love the opportunity to get the chance to talk with you about the new, exciting, and innovative things happening at MMI Textiles, Inc
. As you may know, our first priority is customer service and getting you the best product as quickly and as simply as possible. Call us at 440.899.8050 or shoot us an email at info@mmitextiles.com to get in touch or find out how we can help you.

The 2 Different Kinds of Labels and Why You Need to Know the Difference

by Annie 18. November 2015 09:56

Labels are like snowflakes and sadly, in Cleveland we know too much about snowflakes. But back to the point, we don’t think that any two labels are the alike. They come in so many colors, different materials, shapes, and sizes that it can be hard to pick out the kind you want and need. Let’s break down the options to help make this process simpler.

Printed

We can get you printed labels that are both domestic and imported. We have stock on standard size, Made in the USA, and care labels for immediate delivery.

Custom labels can be produced in 3 to 4 weeks and we can even create a stock program for your custom labels which helps with any problems that you may have with getting them as soon as possible!

We can also print on ribbons, elastics, webbing, and on virtually any material – natural or man made such as cotton, poly-cotton, vinyl, webbing, canvas, and more!

And because we love to stay attuned to what our customers want we are now offering labels printed on organic cotton!

Woven

MMI imports its woven labels from South America and our factory has one of the most prestigious plants and operates on state-of-the-art equipment to weave labels from the best fabrics. We do have minimums and the lead time for these is usually 2 to 3 weeks. Some of our special effects include:

  • Embossing
  • Laser cutting
  • 3D
  • Reflective
  • Pressure Sensitive (sticky backed)

Note that there are minimums and details that go along with this but if you are interested, we would love to fill you in on the details and figure out how to make it work for you.

The process usually includes sending an art file with graphics and dimensions and we will figure out what the label will be put on and any other special requirements so that we can get you exactly what you need!

As always if you need labels of any kind or you have any questions, give our team a call at 440.899.8050!

Nylons, Polys, and Cottons, Oh My!

by Annie 16. September 2015 09:38

We love woven fabrics at MMI and sometimes it’s important to stop talking about all the new stuff in our industry and get back to talking about what makes us who we are.  Cottons, nylons, and polyesters come in so many different shapes, sizes, and colors that it is hard for us to talk about just one. We can provide you with over 50 stock fabrics, but we also specialize in custom woven fabrics that are dyed and finished to meet your specifications.

10oz single fill duck, 1050D Ballistic Nylon, and 70D Polyester are just a few of our favorites. Those are such a small sampling of our commercial inventory, without even dipping into our military stock and customs. We know that our customers have many questions from lead time to dye warehouses, so check out our FAQ’s or give us a call and we can expand on anything you are unclear on.

Along with the fabrics we provide, we are proud of the fact we offer additional value added services. Custom specific stocking programs gives you the ability to have the fabric while not having to worry about where to put it. No matter where you are in the process, MMI wants you to have the best finished products as possible. With our decades of experience, we have seen it all. From commodity to custom, large volume to relatively small, we have the expertise to source your finished products and deliver them to you in a cost effective manner.

End of story, we will work as hard as we can to find out what you need, and how we can accommodate you. And if we can’t get you exactly what you want, when you need it we will try and find someone who can.

Call us at 440.899.8050 or send us a quick email to info@mmitextiles.com so that we can start working together on your project.

MMI Textiles, Inc. exhibited at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market for the first time last week! Our team traveled to Salt Lake City for the four day show geared towards all things outside. Companies from around the world travel to this show to find out what new innovations and products are making their way on to the outdoor scene.

We got the chance to meet and talk with a wide variety of companies that aren’t always at the annual shows we attend. We took this opportunity to show case our impressive products like Unequal® Military and our digital print capabilities to companies who could be utilizing them for their tactical and hunting needs.

The show was an exciting experience for MMI and we look forward to being back next year. In the meantime, to find out more about MMI and all of our offerings, call our team at 440.899.8050 or email us at info@mmitextiles.com

Digital Printing at MMI...

by Annie 4. August 2015 11:48

Exciting things are happening at MMI Textiles! See below to read a recent post on Soldier Systems highlighting our digital printing capabilities --

This sample of Valdyr camouflage was digitally printed on Durastretch 520V by MMI Textiles. You may recognize the pattern from Revision Military’s Kinetic Operations Suit built for USSOCOM’s TALOS program.

The Durastretch 520V is actually a lighterwight fabric than you’d think. It’s a Berry compliant, 5.3 oz, 90% Nylon/10% Spandex ripstop, stretch fabric. I’m hoping to see someone make something out of it soon (hint, hint Trey and Tom!).

MMI Textiles offers a variety of fabric printing capabilities including the digital print option seen above.

Be sure to visit them at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, August 5th-8th in Salt Lake City, Utah – Booth #355-304.

PenCott™ Camouflage Patterns Used on House of Cards

by Debbie 24. March 2015 08:00

An MMI partner may be coming to a small screen near you. Hyde Definition’s PenCott™ camouflage patterns will be featured in season three of the Primetime Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning Netflix drama House of Cards.

The show, which follows Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey as the powerful and manipulative politician Frank Underwood, has already gained notoriety as the first online-only web TV series to earn such attention from critics and award ceremonies. Unsurprisingly, the series will turn to PenCott™ camouflage patterns to make an upcoming scenes look as real as possible.

PenCott™ camouflage patterns make an appearance in House of Cards.

Spoiler Alert

Parts of this blog contain spoilers for House of Cards, so you may want to skip this section if you’d prefer not to know certain plot points until you finish season three.

The PenCott™ designs are on display during an important segment of season three when now-U.S. President Underwood attends a secret meeting in the Jordan Valley with Russian President Viktor Petrov, played by actor Lars Mikkelsen.

All of the Russian soldiers in the scene can be seen wearing BadLands™ uniforms, while the Russian officers and Petrov himself wear GreenZone™ uniforms – two of the four multi-environment camouflage patterns offered by PenCott™ – to serve as a hyper-realistic stand-in for the Russian Army’s “Digital-Flora” uniforms.

Camouflage for You

Fortunately, the costume department for House of Cards isn’t the only group that has access to PenCott™ camouflage pattern. Call us today at 1-888-664-0086 to learn how MMI can help you with your military fabric needs.

Camouflage Fabric History

by MMI Textiles 7. January 2013 15:50

Today, camouflage uniforms are worn by all soldiers in the military. Yet, many armies prior to 1915 wore very colorful uniforms.  The French Army developed the first unit dedicated to camouflage.  Artists were enlisted to help design camouflage.  In 1942 the US Army began camouflage development.

Camouflage is an important part of the modern Army. It is a tool that breaks up the soldier’s recognizable   human form. This blending into the environment enables the solider to spot the enemy first.

Military camouflage has changed over the years due to the change in terrain and camouflage science.  There is the khaki and green of WWII; the olive drab of Korea and Vietnam; the woodland color of the Cold War and Balkans; the 'chocolate chip' pattern of the Gulf War; the desert pattern of Afghanistan and Iraq; and the grey pixel pattern of today.”

Soldiers aren’t the only ones using camouflage fabrics.  Hunting camouflage was developed in the late 1970’s.  Jim Crumley used a Magic Marker on brown dyed work clothes to create a tree bark pattern.  Hunting camouflage serves a similar purpose to military camouflage. It allows the hunter to spot the target before they are spotted.

Camouflage has proven to be a very useful tool.  We here at MMI Textiles are encouraged by the advances made in camouflage science as it helps to keep our military safe. We would also like to thank all that have served to protect our freedom.
