At this time of year many people give to charitable organizations and volunteer in their communities as a way to celebrate the holiday season. We celebrate the holiday with an annual Toy Drive for the Salvation Army. This year’s drive was a huge success.
As a way to thank our customers during the holiday season we donate to an organization in their honor. This year a donation was made to Operation Homefront. Operation Homefront provides emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. In addition, a percentage of the proceeds from the greetings cards sent this year went to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Our employees are also active volunteers in the community. Molly Feiklowicz volunteers with Honor Flight Cleveland. Honor Flight is a non-profit organization that pays tribute to WWII and Korean War veterans who served our country by providing them a safe and memorable all expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials honoring their service. Most of her volunteer work is greeting the veterans at Cleveland Hopkins airport on flight days two times a month at 4:00 a.m. She has actually flown as a Guardian on five flights over the last three years; MMI was the sponsor for two of them.
Melanie Thompson volunteers her time to Hands on Northeast Ohio. Hands on Northeast Ohio makes it simple for volunteers to choose from a variety of projects that connect community needs with their time and interests. She has volunteered at the Cleveland Foodbank, community gardens and special 9/11 projects.
Geoff Senko volunteers at the Boys & Girls Club. He mentors students, helps with homework and serves as a coach for volleyball and football. Throughout the year he hosts fundraising events for the Cleveland clubs including a Celebrity Bartending night.
We are always looking for opportunities to make a difference in our community during the holiday and throughout the year.
